FAQs
Where can spectators park downtown?
Parking is available on all side streets that run parallel to Franklin Street. This parking fills up very quickly, resulting in attendees needing to park several blocks away.
To help with that, we have a courtesy shuttle that will pick up and drop off from Clute Park, Lafayette Park, and 10th and N Porter Street, from 1-8pm. This will be a constant shuttle service running from those spots all day. Please be advised that due to congested traffic, it will NOT drop any attendees off on Franklin Street- the closest is Lafayette Park (1 Block East).
Where are restrooms located?
We have several different restroom (portable toilet) locations downtown. There are restrooms located at:
- Lafayette Park (permanent restrooms also available)
- Schuyler County Courthouse
- Bleacher’s Parking Lot
- Watkins Glen Chamber of Commerce Visitor’s Center (3rd and Franklin)
Where can we eat?
Downtown is FILLED with many food options on festival day! Please keep your eyes peeled for our wonderful street vendors, and local businesses that set up on event day. Some specific locations to check our are:
- Schuyler County Courthouse Lawn
- Watkins Glen State Park Visitor’s Center
- Intersections of 9th, 8th, 7th, 6th and N Franklin
- Bleacher’s Bar & Grill Parking Lot
- Maria’s Tavern
- Jerlando’s Ristorante
- 3rd and N Franklin
How long are the streets closed?
The streets shut down right around 12pm. From this point forward, while at times the street may appear to look empty, we ask that you please listen to announcements and abide by our traffic controllers in the streets. From 12-6pm, sanctioned cars are taking regular laps around the Original Grand Prix Circuit, which means that they will be driving THROUGH downtown. Please stay vigilant.
After the completion of the SVRA Tribute Laps, the streets will remain closed until 8pm. At 8pm, our local emergency crews and garbage crews will be coming through downtown from South to North and slowly opened every street up.
What event should I register my car for?
That’s a great question, and it really depends on what type of vehicle you have! Below are some specifics that do not change from year to year.
If your vehicle only has two wheels– you are only eligible for the Lane’s Yamaha Motorcycle Rallye.
If your vehicle is pre-1986, you are eligible for the Glenora Run. Please note, we do not accept newer cars into this.
If your vehicle is this year’s selected Marque, you are eligible for both the FLX Journey (Thursday) and Tour de Marque (Friday).
If your vehicle is a convertible, open-top, or two-seater sports car, you are eligible for the Sporting Roadster Tour.
If you would like to take your sports car through an obstacle course downtown, you should try the Glenkhana.
Please refer back to our Car Registration Page for more details!
The event I wanted to sign up for is full. Is there a waitlist?
We get asked this question all the time! Unfortunately, we do not create waitlists for this event.
There are about ten different events occurring at the same time on festival day- you can imagine all of the logistics involved with that. Furthermore, our no-show and cancellation percentages aren’t high enough that making a waitlist makes sense. If the event you wanted to sign up for first is sold out, we highly recommend signing up for your 2nd favorite event ASAP.
I signed up for an event, but I can't make it. Can I get a refund?
All of our events have a no-refund policy. We do not provide refunds if you cannot come, because regardless of attendance or not, we must spend the same amount of expenses regardless. We are a nonprofit and because of this, we cannot provide refunds.
What we CAN do is allow you to transfer your registration to another car/owner that fits into that event. Please reach out to us either by email or phone to go over the details.
The car I signed up is not running. Can I substitute it for another car?
That depends. You will need to plead your case with your event chair, as it depends on the replacement car. Please check your registration information and reach out to them via email or phone to see if your substitution car is acceptable.
Glenora Run: Can I use GPS on Glenora Run?
Yes, but it really won’t help, except to find your way to Montour or Hidden Valley; I do not provide GPS coordinates – a rallye is a test of your driving, reading, arithmetic and observation skills as well as finding out how well you and your navigator communicate, and play nicely.
Glenora Run: How do Rallye Route Calculations Work, and Do I Have Time to Stop?
Have your navigator read a few directions ahead. They do the math between the directions. Just take the current odometer reading and add the Elapsed Mileage to it to get the mileage reading for the upcoming direction. See “How to Run a Rallye Route” in your packet before leaving Glenora. The easiest way is to use the spaces between direction lines to add the “elapsed mileage” to the current odometer reading at the turn. Contact Terrie for any questions or assistance in advance.
There is plenty of time for a quick stop during the rallye routes, if you need to consult with your navigator about the route, check something on the car, get gas or make a potty stop. You must be in Montour Falls by 11:30 AM to join the Hot Laps” of the Skilled Nursing Facility; if you are late, continue on to Hidden Valley for lunch. There are restroom facilities available in Montour Falls.
