SUMMARY:Diamond on Seneca Roadster Tour
DESCRIPTION:If you own a roadster and really enjoy driving your car\, this tour is for you! Established in 2002 the Sporting Roadster Tour route changes each year as we continue to add new sections as well as re-use some of the really special roads. The tour is designed so that people who enjoy spirited driving will feel right at home\, come out and celebrate The Running of the Roadsters. \nAn effort is made each year to alter the route as much as possible so those returning year after year can expect something new each time. However\, certain main features remain constant\, lunch\, and the two extraordinary Centralus Health System Laps around the original 1948 6.6 mile Watkins Glen road course. \nAfter the parade laps have been completed all participants are provided reserved parking in downtown Watkins Glen allowing them to both display their cars as well as take advantage of the Grand Prix Festival. \nThis event STARTS at Havana Glen\, stops for lunch at Diamond on Seneca\, receives complimentary commemorative beverages from Lucky Hare Brewing\, and cars will park downtown at the 10th and N Franklin State Park Parking Lot.

SUMMARY:SVRA Tech Inspection Reenactment
DESCRIPTION:The official start to a day of racing includes a tech inspection of the race car. Smalley’s Garage was the site for Tech Inspection from the very first race in 1948. Therefore\, the way to start the day at the Grand Prix Festival of Watkins Glen is to visit Smalley’s Garage to observe the Tech Inspection reenactment for SVRA cars. For a quick overview\, here is a small pictorial sample of previous year’s Tech Inspection Reenactments. \nAs always\, Smalley’s Garage will have their doors open\, with vintage racing memorabilia\, photos and plenty of stories and reminiscences. Check out Smalley Lane\, behind the garage\, which is the original site of Tech Inspection with Flossie Smalley. \nLocation:\nOn Franklin Street\, between 11th & 12th street\, Watkins Glen. \nTime: Tech Inspection Reenactment – 9:30am – Open until 5:00pm for Tours and Memorabilia Viewing \nCost: Free to the public. \nAppearing: \nThe race cars at Smalley’s will be supplied exclusively by the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association\, the sponsor of this event. \nPlaying ‘Flossie Smalley’ this year is Mrs. Anne Bialke of Trumansburg\, NY. \nNotice in the pictorial sample\, some shots of Adele Sautter (who has since passed away) appearing in the role of Chief Tech Inspector Flossie Smalley. The annual reenactment of Tech Inspection is now in honor of Flossie Smalley and Adele Sauter. Two great women who were both heavily involved in the automobile trade. \nFor more specific information\, contact:\nDave Tobin at 651-216-1265 or email

SUMMARY:Walk of Fame Induction Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:The Watkins Glen Drivers Walk of Fame was established in 1993 by the Watkins Glen Historic Racing Committee with support from the Schuyler County Chamber of Commerce and Watkins Glen International to honor the drivers who have competed on the Glen’s world-famous circuit since 1948. \nThe International Motor Racing Research Center helps the Historic Racing Committee develop the inscription for the Walk of Fame markers. The majority of markers are located on the east and west sidewalks along Franklin Street. All the markers in the Walk of Fame are sponsored by private donations. \nTo be considered for induction into the Walk of Fame\, the driver must have driven a race car in competition at one of the four racecourses used at the Glen since 1948. The first person inducted into the Walk of Fame was the gentleman whose vision was to bring racing to Watkins Glen\, Cameron Argetsinger. His block was placed in the Drivers Walk of Fame at the original racing start-finish line in front of the Schuyler County Court House in 1993. \nA tour of the Drivers Walk of Fame is a walk-through racing history. It is at the Glen that road racing had its rebirth in 1948\, and since that time it has been known as the Home of Road Racing in America. The Walk of Fame in front of the Court House is reserved for those drivers who competed from those early street races\, from 1948 to 1952. \nBegin your tour at Smalley’s Garage at 204 S. Franklin St.\, where race cars had to pass inspection before being allowed to compete. Proceed north to the Court House and follow the path almost to Seneca Lake before crossing Franklin Street and enjoying the names on the west side. A few drivers are honored with markers at the Racing Research Center at 610 S. Decatur St. \nTo learn more about these great drivers and about the history of racing at Watkins Glen\, you are encouraged to visit the International Motor Racing Research Center. There you will find information\, biographies\, photos\, memorabilia\, historic automobiles\, models and books depicting the history of motorsports of all series and all venues worldwide and\, of course\, the rich heritage of racing in Watkins Glen.
